Microsoft Vista and You
I have been getting quite a few questions lately about Microsoft Vista and if someone should buy it or wait. Here are a couple of my concerns about Vista that you might want to look into before making the plunge.
- Make sure that the programs that you have will work with Vista. This is crucial because alot of programs that are older will not work on the operating system, which means that you will have to upgrade it.
- Make sure that you purchase the proper version for the proper environment. I mention this because a lot of business owners ask me if they can use the Home version at the office. While you can probably “rig” it to work at the office, it will save a lot of time and heartache just getting the business version.
- I am following my old school techniques of not implementing a company wide roll out until the first service pack is released. This also gives me time to upgrade all the other programs that we are running to be ready for it.
- As far as choosing, if you want a Microsoft product, you will probably be going with Vista, whether you want to or not.
These are just a couple of things that you might want to consider when upgrading your computers in an office environment.
