People have asked me about open source software and I have usually given my thumbs up to the various projects out there. I just now figured that it would be nice if I just made a list of some of the ones that I can think of. (Plus I like making Lists). All of the programs listed are for windows based computers. All of these programs are free to use.
- Firefox Open Source web browser.
- Thunderbird Open Source Email program
- ClamWin Anti-virus program, that does just that
- 7-Zip Decompress program like winzip
- The Gimp Like Photoshop, only better, in my opinion.
- FileZilla FTP program, best I have found, paid or free.
- PDFCreator Creates Acrobat pdf files.
- Notepad++ Replacement for Notepad. This is one of my favorites for web development.
- OpenOffice Replacement for Microsoft Office.
- KeePass Password Safe
- GanttProject Replacement for Microsoft Project
- Freemind Mind mapping software
