Flirting with a new computer

Well, I have started looking into a new computer for the home. There are alot of diferent types and configurations out there, so just narrowing down the field seems like a chore. One thing that is new to my sense of computers is that on this hunt, Apple has entered my mind as another option.

There are a number of reasons that Apple appeals to me.

  • It is a very simple operating system, being that my wife would be able to accomplish more things on it.
  • Not nearly as many viruses as Microsoft and their OS.
  • Doesn’t crash nearly as much as Microsoft.
  • And the biggest thing for me, it looks slick as hell!

Now my background has been with Microsoft and believe me when I say that they have a wonderful Operating System. The pluses with a Microsoft System.

  • No learning curve for me
  • Cheaper than a Mac
  • I don’t have to go out and buy all new games and software
  • Since Microsoft is installed on, I believe, 85% of the desktops out there, its safe to say that it is alot easier to find software for it.
  • My IPod will work just as well on a PC as it will on a Mac.

So I guess what it boils down to is do I want the slick looking computer or do I want the Dell? I am leaning more towards the Dell, but it is a very hard choice at this point.
