Working on a new website

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Hello all,

Just wanted to give everyone an update. I just got me a new website doggiecare.info . I figured that I can put up articles about dog care, maybe some photos of peoples dogs.

I am wanting to try a couple of different techniques using Yahoo’s development environment. Mainly the User Interface and the Yahoo answers. On the same stroke I have also been debating as to whether to use a CMS (Content Management System) to get the whole site structure up and have the login system and such. I just don’t see any use for most of the components that a CMS would give me.

Once again the site is doggiecare.info, go there and find out some information on the care of your favorite friend.

Microsoft Vista and You

Friday, May 11th, 2007

I have been getting quite a few questions lately about Microsoft Vista and if someone should buy it or wait. Here are a couple of my concerns about Vista that you might want to look into before making the plunge.

  1. Make sure that the programs that you have will work with Vista. This is crucial because alot of programs that are older will not work on the operating system, which means that you will have to upgrade it.
  2. Make sure that you purchase the proper version for the proper environment. I mention this because a lot of business owners ask me if they can use the Home version at the office. While you can probably “rig” it to work at the office, it will save a lot of time and heartache just getting the business version.
  3. I am following my old school techniques of not implementing a company wide roll out until the first service pack is released.  This also gives me time to upgrade all the other programs that we are running to be ready for it.
  4. As far as choosing, if you want a Microsoft product, you will probably be going with Vista, whether you want to or not.

These are just a couple of things that you might want to consider when upgrading your computers in an office environment.

    Kinda off the subject

    Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

This is kinda off of the subject of computers but felt like writing it anyway.

I am in the business of vacuum packaging machines and basically machines that are used to pack food and other items. I guess the easiest way for me to explain to people is that when you buy bologna in the supermarket, we make the machine that creates the plastic package in which the bologna is in. Its kind of a nitche market. The website is www.vc999.com . Please note that I didn’t create the current website, but am currently working on the new one. Another one of our packaging machine websites is www.xtravac.biz.

Now the second one I did do when I was early on in the web development area. One of the reasons that I am putting the link in this page is because for business reasons I cannot put it on our highly popular site of VC999. Don’t ask why not, because I really am not sure. Actually, my page here is alot more popular than the Xtravac’s is currently, so if you are feeling kind and generous, please out a link on your site to Xtravac so that it will at least get noticed. Thank you :)
Now Xtravac.biz is interesting because we get these machines from Taiwan and apparently they have really good pumps in them and cost a whole lot cheaper. Of course other than the pump, I have heard that they don’t hold up as well as our premium brands, but hey, price is significantly cheaper.

    New Website

    Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

I know, it seems kinda strange that I put a blog on my old company website, but I can’t seem to part with the address.  Since I can’t part with the address, I figured that I would put a blog here instead.

    Hope you like it.
